WORK WITH US!

PRODUCTION ROLE (TO BE BETTER DEFINED!)

BoonDog Theatre is a theatre-producing creative incubator who are terrible at describing/marketing themselves. But we do make really good work.

Founded in 2012 by Lucy Roslyn and Jamie Firth we have maintained that core staffing level, working with regular collaborators and project-specific freelancers in order to deliver new writing from conception to stage. Our previous work can be viewed here: www.boondogtheatre.com

We tell stories of all kinds, but our key interest is in character-driven narratives about social issues based on painstaking historical research. Edinburgh Fringe veterans, we have started to build relationships with theatres UK-wide in order to develop and tour future work - our 2025 show will be our breakthrough production. We hope.

We are looking to recruit a person (or possibly persons?) in order to help us achieve the following things in 2025 as we become an established professional company:

  • We are sole practitioners: We want to incorporate BoonDog as a legal entity. Set up bank accounts, tax management etc. Develop templates for contractor contracts, invoices etc.

  • Develop proper infrastructure - a corporatisation of how we work. To include accessibility, sustainability, diversity, community structures etc.

  • Develop a series of “What we are” statements, looking at BoonDog’s body of work and helping to define it for both industry and audiences.

  • Develop a template Tour Pack/Pitch document for potential partners.

  • Devise funding strategies, write applications to support future company activities: wherever that may come from (but especially ACE applications… we hope).

  • Set up a “leg up” programme where BoonDog mentor an early-career company through their debut Edinburgh Fringe 2026.

  • Expand our network of theatre contacts and lay groundwork for our 2026 show (it’s bigger and needs a long preparation) for co-production possibilities.

We envisage this as a part time role with us, perhaps one day a week, but we are open to input: it’s possible that you’re very experienced and can nail these things much quicker. Or that you’re less experienced and need more time but are really, really nice and we’re into that too.

We will be paying on a day rate basis (we need to talk to a few people to establish what that rate should be!) and the work will be commencing as early in the new year 2025 as possible.

If this is something that you have the tools and talent to help us with, please get in touch by emailing us at boondogtheatre@gmail.com - We are based in the Midlands and, although by no means necessary, it would be a bit advantageous if you were too.
